Turning captions on
On Freeview via UHF aerial
To access captions, press the subtitle button.
This may be represented by the words SUB, SUBT, STTL, or by an
image of a line of dots at the bottom of a square.
Captions can be recorded on any recording device,
not just MyFreeview.
Captions are available on the following
channels:
TV ONE, TV2 and TVNZ 7.
On Freeview via satellite
If you receive Freeview via satellite, access to captions and
your ability to record them depends on the type of receiver or
recorder you have.
If yours has a built in Teletext decoder (eg.
Zinwell brand), access captions via your remote by pushing the
TELETEXT button then pressing 801.
It is possible to record captions using a Teletext-enabled
recorder.
If your Freeview receiver/recorder does NOT have a
Teletext decoder, but your television
does, you're still able to access captions. Just use your
TV remote control to bring up Teletext and then press 801. These
captions are not recordable.
Captions are available on the following
channels
TV ONE, TV2, TV3 and TVNZ 7
See your manual for more information.
Other captioning information
TV3 captions are accessible via a digital satellite
receiver.
The Hills digital satellite receiver does not enable people to
record captions, as it does not have a built-in teletext
decoder.
