What is 720p?

720 stands for the vertical resolution (number of pixels displayed down the screen).

The 'p' stands for progressive,which means the lines are displayed in sequence, as opposed to interlaced (i) which means all the odd numbered rows are displayed first and then the even numbers second.

720p has a vertical resolution of 720 lines and a horizontal resolution of 1280.
